The BNP
government would launch an “innovative governance contest” at the secondary
levels at schools to help develop leadership qualities among students, said Bobby
Hajjaj, state minister for primary and mass education, on Saturday.
Through the
contest, students would be encouraged to lead the country in the future, the
state minister added while addressing a programme held at the Firoza Bashar
Ideal College in Bosila on Saturday.
At the
event, top scores in the SSC 2026 exams were felicitated.
Students
from class eight to twelve can take part in the “governance contest,” he said.
The winner
would get prize money valued at more than Tk1 lakh, and the first- and
second-runners up would also get prizes, the state minister added.
Furthermore,
the top three performers would get to serve in the roles of “shadow minister”
and “shadow MP” for one-day to get hands-on experience in leading the country.
In this
way, they would also feel encouraged to take leadership roles for the country
in the future, Bobby Hajjaj said.
At the
event, Bobby Hajjaj commended the brilliant results of 266 students from Firoza
Bashar Ideal College in the SSC exams. The college comes second in securing
100% pass rate in the Mohammadpur region, he said.
