Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) Chairman Professor Dr Mobasher Monem has decided to step down from his position, although he has yet to formally submit his resignation.

He is expected to send his resignation letter to the Ministry of Public Administration on Tuesday afternoon.

PSC Public Relations Officer SM Matiur Rahman confirmed the development to the media at around 2pm.

According to Matiur, the PSC chairman spoke to him earlier in the day and informed him of his decision to resign. He said Professor Monem was expected to submit the resignation letter to the Ministry of Public Administration later in the afternoon.

However, the letter had not been received by the ministry at the time of his statement.

Then-PSC Chairman Md Sohorab Hossain and 11 other commission members resigned following the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government on 5 August 2024.

In October 2024, Professor Mobasher Monem, a professor of public administration at the University of Dhaka, was appointed chairman of the PSC.
