The leaders and activists of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal and Islami Chhatra Shibir have agreed to avoid clashes and maintain peaceful coexistence on the Dhaka Alia Madrasa campus, putting an end to recent tensions.

The two student groups reached the consensus during a reconciliation meeting on the campus on Sunday. Md Hamidur Rahman Hamid, member of parliament for the Dhaka-7 constituency representing the BNP, and Md Kamal Hossain, member of parliament for the Dhaka-5 constituency representing Jamaat-e-Islami, mediated the discussion.

A Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, the vice-principal and teachers of the madrasa, Dhaka University Central Students' Union General Secretary SM Farhad, alongside leaders from both student factions attended the meeting.

Confirming the development, SM Farhad, also central publicity secretary of Chhatra Shibir, stated that both sides agreed to move past previous misunderstandings to protect the academic environment.

"The main topic of discussion was how to maintain a beautiful and peaceful environment in the future without blaming each other for past incidents," Farhad said. "We discussed ensuring that everyone can coexist on the campus so that no further conflict arises."

He added that both organisations made a positive decision to step back from confrontation, focusing instead on campus peace and student safety. The meeting participants also addressed the grievances of students affected by recent events, committing to consult the principal to resolve those issues promptly.

Following the discussion, a leader from Chhatra Dal embraced Md Abdul Alim, president of the Dhaka Alia Madrasa branch of Chhatra Shibir, drawing applause from attending activists.

Leaders present at the meeting emphasised that political differences must not disrupt educational institutions and urged student groups to maintain a stable campus through mutual tolerance.
