No student has passed this year's Dakhil examination at 226 madrasas under the Bangladesh Madrasah Education Board, according to results announced on Monday.

The number of madrasas recording a zero pass rate has increased sharply from 86 last year.

Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon disclosed the figures while announcing the SSC and equivalent examination results on Monday.

Dakhil pass rate stands at 55.49%

A total of 164,797 students passed the Dakhil examination this year, including 81,765 boys and 83,032 girls.

The overall pass rate stood at 55.49 per cent.

Female students outperformed male students, with a pass rate of 59.89 per cent, compared with 51.64 per cent among boys.

A total of 1,857,344 students filled in forms to sit this year's SSC and equivalent examinations.

Of them, 1,418,398 registered for the SSC examination under the country's nine general education boards, 304,286 for the Dakhil examination under the Madrasah Education Board and 134,660 for the SSC (Vocational) examination under the Technical Education Board.

The written examinations began on 21 April.

The written tests under the general education boards ended on 20 May, while the written portions of the Dakhil and SSC (Vocational) examinations concluded on 24 May.

Results are generally published within 60 days of the completion of the written examinations. The results were therefore expected to be released on 20 July, but this year's results were published around three weeks later than scheduled.

SSC result re-scrutiny applications

Students can apply online for SSC and equivalent examination result re-scrutiny from 11 to 17 August.

The education boards will publish notices on their respective websites detailing the application process and relevant instructions for result re-scrutiny.
