41 lakh mothers will get Family Cards this fiscal year: PM

The BNP government will distribute Family Cards among 41 lakh families across the country in the fiscal year ending 30 June 2027, said Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Saturday.

The mothers or homemakers of each of these families will get the cards to support household budgets alongside their husbands or male counterparts, the PM said while addressing flood-affected people in Baharchhara union, Bashkhali upazila of Chattogram.

At the time, government officials handed over keys to newly built homes among 1,000 families affected by the floods.

The Family Card initiative is aimed at women empowerment, and ensure that a woman can also take the reins of a family by themselves or in cooperation with male members, Tarique Rahman told the audience at the event.
