The
International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) on Sunday is likely to order that Wing
Commander Saifur Rahman be shown arrested in the case over the alleged enforced
disappearance of now-missing BNP leader Ilias Ali, said ICT Chief Prosecutor Md
Aminul Islam on Thursday.
The
prosecution team formally placed a petition before the ICT on Thursday, seeking
to show Saifur Rahman as an arrestee in the case, Md Aminul Islam told
reporters.
Saifur has
been held under military custody following his arrest on 26 July.
Former authoritarian prime minister Sheikh Hasina and former army officer Ziaul Ahsan are also expected to be shown as leading perpetrators in the case.
Ilias Ali was allegedly abducted on 17 April 2012 from Dhaka's Banani area. He has not been heard from ever since. BNP leaders allege the then Awami League government oversaw the enforced disappearance.
