Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Wednesday inaugurated the July Mass Uprising Memorial Museum.
The museum was inaugurated at 9:00am through the unveiling of a commemorative plaque at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the capital, where the prime minister attended the ceremony as the chief guest.
The inauguration was attended by senior government officials, advisers, former Chief Adviser of the interim government Dr Muhammad Yunus, members of the families of those martyred during the uprising, injured participants, representatives of various political parties, diplomats and other invited guests.
According to the government, the museum preserves photographs, documents, video footage, personal memorabilia and other significant artefacts related to the July Mass Uprising.
It aims to present the events of 2024 and the history of the uprising to future generations while preserving the memory and sacrifices of those who lost their lives.
While the museum will remain reserved for special guests and members of the martyrs' families on 5 August, it will be opened to the general public from 6 August onward.
