A Dhaka court on Monday placed accused Sohel Rana on a two-day remand in a case filed over the killing of his dentist wife in the capital's Dakshin Khan area.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Aminul Islam Junaid passed the order, said Sub-Inspector Abu Bakar Siddique of the Prosecution Division.

On 1 August, the investigating officer of the case, Sub-Inspector Habibur Rahman, produced Sohel before the court and sought a seven-day remand.

The court sent the accused to jail and fixed Monday for the remand hearing.

On 30 July, the body of dentist Sarah Roksana Pinu was recovered from her residence in the Jamtola Goli area under Dakshin Khan Police Station.

The victim's sister, Sarah Sultana Polly, filed a murder case against unidentified individuals the following day.

Police later arrested Pinu's husband, Sohel Rana, as a suspect in the case.
