A vehicle carrying National Citizen Party (NCP) Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwary came under attack while returning to Sylhet city from Jaintiapur upazila after the party's July March programme, leaving two people, including Patwary, injured.

The incident took place on Friday night.

The attack was confirmed in a post on Patwary's verified Facebook page. A video shared with the post showed the vehicle's shattered window and bloodied hands.

The incident was also confirmed in a post on the verified Facebook page of NCP Convener Nahid Islam.

However, no information was immediately available about those responsible for the attack.

Meanwhile, Jaintiapur Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman Molla denied the allegation of the attack.

He told the media that the NCP central leaders were escorted by police out of Jaintiapur and that no attack took place at the time. "It is completely false information," he said.

The area beyond Jaintiapur falls under the jurisdiction of Shah Poran Police Station of the Sylhet Metropolitan Police.

Officer-in-Charge of Shah Poran Police Station Khandaker Mostafizur Rahman said he was not aware of any such attack in his jurisdiction.

On Thursday afternoon, a vehicle carrying NCP leader Sarjis Alam came under attack twice while he was returning to Sylhet after attending a views-exchange meeting with family members of those martyred in the July Uprising in Golapganj upazila. NCP leaders blamed the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal for the attacks.

Earlier, on Tuesday, NCP leaders also came under attack during the party's July March programme in Habiganj.
