HC bench ‘embarrassed’ to hear Islami Bank share scam case

A High Court bench has expressed embarrassment over hearing a writ petition related to the alleged share scam involving Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC. 

Following the recusal, the bench forwarded the case documents to the chief justice for assigning the matter to another bench.

The High Court bench of Justice Md Mujibur Rahman Mia and Justice Md Rezaul Karim was set to hear the petition on Wednesday when the junior judge of the bench expressed embarrassment over hearing the case. 

Supreme Court lawyers Md Saddam Hossain and Zayed Bin Amjad confirmed the matter. 

Former president Mohammed Shahabuddin is among the accused in the case involving allegations of share manipulation, asset misappropriation and facilitating S Alam Group’s takeover of Islami Bank.
