HSC students block three key points in capital

Students of HSC and equivalent exams blocked three crucial roadways in the capital on Wednesday, pressing for the education minister’s resignation among other demands.

The demonstrations caused severe traffic gridlocks at Science Lab intersection, Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway in Uttara, and Mirpur-10.

Police repeatedly requested the students to lift the blockades in view of people’s sufferings, but to no avail.

From the blockade at Science Lab, students launched a march towards the Shikkha Bhaban and Secretariat around 3pm.

They reached the road leading to the Secretariat around 4pm, but had to pause their walk due to a strong police barricade.

Protesters from Uttara also launched a parallel march towards the Shikkha Bhaban around 3:40pm. After a brief walk, they boarded pickup vans and other motorized vehicles to reach their destination.
