Police on Friday recovered the body of a doctor from a flat in the residential section of Aziz Super Market in the capital’s Shahbagh area.
The deceased was identified as Farah Ferdous, 32.
According to police, the body was recovered on Friday afternoon after family members found her dead in her rented apartment, having lost contact with her for the past three days.
The body was sent to the morgue of Dhaka Medical College Hospital for an autopsy.
Shahbagh Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Moniruzzaman said relatives informed police after discovering the body in the flat.
"Family members told us that they had been unable to contact Farah Ferdous for the last three days. Despite repeated phone calls, they received no response. They came to Dhaka on Friday afternoon and found her body in the room before notifying police," the OC said.
He added that police were trying to ascertain the details surrounding the incident and that the exact cause of death would be known after the post-mortem examination.
"Preliminarily, we suspect that she may have died due to a stroke," Moniruzzaman said.
Police are continuing their investigation into the incident.
Dr Farah Ferdous joined government service as an Assistant Surgeon through the 39th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examination. She later began her residency training in the Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery at Bangladesh Medical University (BMU), where she was currently a Phase B resident trainee.
