The Bangladesh Formula Student and Automotive Engineering Summit 2026 was held on the campus of the Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) on Thursday.
The summit was a joint initiative of the Formula
Student team formed by the students of MIST and the Bangladesh Formula Student
Community, said a press release
The summit was the first national-level event of its
kind in Bangladesh, where students, engineers, automobile industry
professionals and policymakers gathered together.
The event was aimed at strengthening the bonds of
the country’s automobile community. By uniting students, engineers,
researchers, automotive industry stakeholders and policymakers on a single
platform, the summit sought to accelerate the development of Bangladesh’s
automotive engineering sector and to foster a sustainable, cooperative relationship
between academia and industry.
More than 2,500 guests and visitors attended the
summit.
Lt Gen Mir Mushfiqur Rahman, principal staff officer
of Armed Forces Division, graced the occasion as the chief guest.
Maj Gen Md Hakimuzzaman, commandant of MIST, was
present as the chief patron, while Brig Gen Mohummad Shariful Islam, Head of
the Department of Mechanical Engineering at MIST, served as the chairman of the
organising committee.
Under the guidance of experts, the summit featured
technical sessions on automotive and Formula Student engineering and discussion
on the development of the country’s automotive and Original Equipment
Manufacturing (OEM) sector, with the participation of the Formula Student
community, industry professionals and senior officials.
For students, the programme included Formula Future
Business Case Competition, IC Engine Masterclass and Quiz, Formula Student
Concept Car Challenge, CAD Design Competition and Poster Presentation.
In addition, visitors enjoyed a range of highlights,
including a car show, go-kart racing and simulator racing. The main attraction
among these was the car show, where Formula Student racing cars built by
students from various universities were displayed alongside high-performance
vehicles from renowned brands and private collectors.
Ahead of the main event, an online webinar titled
“TrackTalk 2026” was held, in which local and international automobile industry
professionals experienced in Formula Student, Formula One and high-performance

The event on the MIST campus played a significant
role in advancing the field of automobile engineering in Bangladesh and in
promoting Formula Student competition across the country.
