The Dhaka University authorities have banned outsiders from
entering the campus during the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2026 to ensure the
overall safety of students and maintain discipline.
According to an urgent notice issued by the university
proctor office, the authorities will also strictly control vehicle movement on
the campus starting from Wednesday.
The notification states that the administration will
strictly regulate the movement of outsiders and general vehicles at key campus
entrances, including Shahbagh, Doel Chattar, Burn Unit, Shibbari Crossing,
Fuller Road, Palashi More, and Nilkhet areas. Only vehicles displaying Dhaka
University stickers and those operating under emergency services will gain
entry to the campus.
Emergency services exempt from these restrictions include
ambulances, medical and patient vehicles, journalists' vehicles, ride-sharing
services, food delivery vehicles, online shopping delivery vehicles, and other
government vehicles. However, the notice clearly states that general public
transport and heavy vehicles remain completely prohibited inside the campus at
all times.
The university administration noted that this decision
remains subject to change based on the situation. Officials may re-evaluate the
instructions periodically by taking into account the opinions, suggestions, and
field realities of the concerned stakeholders.
The university authorities have sought the cooperation of everyone, including students, to help maintain overall discipline and security on the campus.
