A massive fire that ripped through the Kalshi slum in the capital’s Pallabi area on Monday evening, has been brought under control after two hours of effort.
Firefighters were alerted to the incident at 7:23pm, according to the Media Cell of the Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD).
Fourteen firefighting units rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control around 9:35pm, FSCD control room duty officer Rakibul Islam told the Daily Sun.
Firefighters faced a water shortage, which made it difficult to contain the blaze, said Fire Service Media Cell official Anwarul Islam Dolon.
The cause of the fire could not be known immediately.
