The body of Mahadev Ghosh, a 23-year-old Bangladeshi student who passed away in Paris earlier this month, is currently en route to Dhaka after French authorities completed all legal and repatriation formalities.

Turkish Airlines flight TK1828, carrying the casket, departed Charles de Gaulle International Airport in Paris at 7:45pm local time on Friday for Istanbul. The remains will be flown to Dhaka via a connecting flight (TK0712) on Saturday and are scheduled to arrive at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 5:15am on Sunday.

French police recovered Mahadev’s body from his dormitory room in Jouy-en-Josas, located in the greater Paris region’s Department 78, on 4 May. While the case was initially handled as an unnatural death, a police report issued on 11 May following an autopsy confirmed that he died of natural causes, noting no signs of violence or forced entry at the scene.

Mahadev was pursuing an MBA at the prestigious HEC Paris business school at the time of his demise. He had previously completed his bachelor’s degree at King’s College London and attended a short course in Italy before moving to France.

A passionate writer, he regularly contributed columns on politics and contemporary affairs to various media platforms.

Hailing from the Katalagari Bazar area in Jhenaidah district, Mahadev was the son of Shyamal Ghosh, a retired secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, and Sagardipa Guha Roy.

The Bangladesh Embassy in Paris, alongside the Jouy-en-Josas City Hall, provided overall coordination and swiftly issued the required No Objection Certificate (NOC) to expedite the repatriation process.

Mahadev’s sudden demise has sent shockwaves through the expatriate Bangladeshi community in France. Several platforms, including the France-Bangladesh Journalists Association (FBJA) and the Bangladeshi Students and Alumni Network in France, have expressed deep grief and extended condolences to the bereaved family.
