Govt plans to inaugurate HSIA third terminal on Victory Day: Afroza Khanam

Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam Rita on Tuesday said the government has been planning to inaugurate the third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) on this year’s Victory Day.

Disclosing the matter during a courtesy visit by the leaders of the Bangladesh Aviation and Tourism Journalists Association (BATJA) at the secretariat, she also said that the preparation of opening the terminal is in the end phase now.

The minister said the opening of the terminal would improve the overall transport efficiency of international passengers.

She also mentioned that the government plans to expand the fleet of Biman Bangladesh Airlines by creating a mixed fleet and leasing at least five aircraft this year to accommodate the growing number of passengers and international routes.

Reflecting on the minister's remarks, State Minister M Rashiduzzaman Millat said the government has taken multiple initiatives to make the Biman and tourism sectors more modern, secure, and of international standard.
