Assistant attorney general Tariqul resigns to contest SCBA polls

Assistant Attorney General Md Tariqul Islam has resigned from his post to contest the upcoming election of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA).

He submitted his formal resignation letter to the Attorney General on Tuesday morning, citing personal reasons and election preparations.

Tariqul Islam said he has decided to contest for the post of joint secretary in the upcoming SCBA election.

He said he stepped down from the government position to maintain compliance with election rules and ensure a fair competitive environment.

He also requested the Attorney General to accept his resignation through due process.

The election to the Supreme Court Bar Association is scheduled to be held on 13 and 14 May.
