A Dhaka court on Saturday ordered two accused, including a leader of the banned Chhatra League, to be sent to jail in a case filed with Shahbagh Police Station over allegedly bringing out a flash procession of the banned organisation on the Dhaka University campus.

The accused are Farhan Tanvir Nasif, organising secretary of the Sir AF Rahman Hall unit of the banned Chhatra League at Dhaka University, and microbus driver Md Rubel Mia.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mehedi Hasan passed the order after a hearing on a detention application filed by police. Defence lawyer Md Tarikul Islam confirmed the information.

According to the case statement, on Saturday morning, a group brought out a procession in the Dhaka University area, where they chanted various provocative slogans, allegedly aimed at reviving the activities of the banned organisation and conspiring against the government and the state.

The accused were arrested at the scene, while 20 to 25 others fled.

A case was filed with Shahbagh Police Station under the Anti-Terrorism Act over the incident.
