Navy seizes hoarded fuel, arrests one in Hatiya drive

The Bangladesh Navy seized a large quantity of illegally stockpiled diesel, and arrested one person during a joint drive in Hatiya early Wednesday.

The Navy conducted the operation, with support from police and local administration, in Tamuraddi Bazar area under Hatiya upazila of Noakhali, said a press release issued by the ISPR on Wednesday.

During the drive, law enforcers searched the outlet of an organisation named “Belayet Motor Parts” and recovered eight drums containing approximately 1,600 litres of diesel.

One individual was arrested on charges of fuel hoarding. He, alongside the seized diesel, was later handed over to Hatiya Police Station for legal action.

The Navy said that such operations would continue in the future with a view to curbing illegal fuel hoarding and maintaining stability in the energy sector.
