Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan on Monday claimed that the ousted Awami League government
bears the responsibility for the current fuel and energy crisis in the country as the
regime deliberately did not extract natural gas from huge domestic reserves.
The
minister made the allegations while inaugurating a measles vaccination
campaign at Agailjhara Health Complex, Agailjhara upazila, Barishal.
He said
that the BNP government is working simultaneously to resolve both the national
crisis caused by the present global fuel shortage, and the deadly health crisis
caused by a sudden measles outbreak. At the same time, the government is also taking
forward state reform initiatives, he added.
The
government is committed to strengthening the country which is currently
buffeted by a brittle health sector and a feeble economy, he added.
He urged
journalists to stay alert so that anyone cannot abuse the mass communication
platforms to spread misinformation despite government efforts to mitigate each
crisis.
