The incident occurred around 11:30am on Sunday.

The detainees were identified as Hridoy alias Rabbi, son of Hayat Ali of Kanaidanga village; Shahin, son of the late Usman Gani of Gopalpur village; and Sohag, son of Abu Bakkar of Par-Gopalpur village.

According to local sources, the three youths illegally entered India on Saturday. They were returning to Bangladesh on Sunday morning when BSF personnel on patrol detained them from about 100 metres inside Indian territory near border pillar 49/2-S.
