Hajj operations, including flight management and camp activities, have been conducted in an orderly manner this year, Religious Affairs Minister Kazi Shah Mofazzal Houssain (Kaikobad) has said.

He made the remark while talking to reporters after the inauguration of this year’s Hajj flights by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) here tonight.

Kaikobad said the Prime Minister personally inquired about the well-being of pilgrims both on flights and at Hajj camps. He talked to each of the pilgrims onboard and shook hands with them.

The Prime Minister joined a munajat (prayer) inside the aircraft, seeking blessings of Almighty Allah for successful accomplishment of the Hajj rituals, he said.

While addressing the pilgrims, the Prime Minister sought doa from them for the country and its people and his government as well, he added.

No irregularities in Hajj management would be tolerated under any circumstances, Kaikobad stressed, noting that the overall arrangements have been more disciplined and organised than in previous years.

State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M Rashiduzzaman Millat said the Prime Minister has issued strict instructions to ensure transparency and prevent any misconduct during the process.

Compared to previous years, arrangements have been improved significantly, he added.

He further noted that airfare has been reduced by Tk12,000 compared to last year, while catering and related services have been assigned to tourism authorities to ensure better quality and management.

A total of 14 Hajj flights are scheduled to depart today, he mentioned.

Earlier, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman inaugurated this year’s Hajj flights at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) at 11:57pm on Friday (17 April).
