Dr Debapriya Bhattacharya, distinguished fellow at the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD), said that reform is an ongoing and continuous process. At the same time, reforms are essential for maintaining the dynamism of the economy. However, he stated that the interim government has failed to implement reforms.
He made these remarks on Thursday morning at a discussion titled “Bangladesh Reform Tracker and the Relevance of Mass Media,” organized by Citizen’s Platform for SDGs, Bangladesh, and the Economic Reporters’ Forum in the capital.
Dr Bhattacharya said that the spirit emerging from the uprising of students and the general public has further expressed the desire for reforms. Reform is not a fixed matter; it is a continuous process.
Just as blood circulation is necessary to keep the human body active, reforms are equally essential to keep an economy dynamic.
He added that to move forward, politicians must give importance to the concept of reform. In the latest election manifesto, efforts have been made to highlight both the necessity and expectations of reforms.
