Tourism Malaysia has intensified its promotional drive for the ‘Visit Malaysia 2026’ (VM2026) campaign through its participation in a sales mission in Chattogram and the Dhaka Travel Mart 2026, held from April 6 to 11.
Marking its 14th appearance at the travel mart since its inception in 2002, the Malaysian delegation is led by Solehuddin Ahmad, Deputy Director of the International Promotion Division (Asia & Africa). The delegation includes representatives from the Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council and Education Malaysia Global Services, alongside key travel trade partners such as tour operators and airlines.
In response to rising demand for diverse and distinctive travel experiences, Malaysia is expanding its tourism offerings to cater to a wide range of travellers. The country is also placing greater emphasis on niche segments, including medical tourism, educational tourism and eco-tourism, with a particular focus on attracting visitors from Bangladesh and the broader South Asian region.
Director-General of Tourism Malaysia, Mohd Amirul Rizal Abd Rahim, said Bangladesh remains a key market, adding that the agency is committed to strengthening its presence and working closely with industry stakeholders to drive the VM2026 campaign across the region.
Participation in the travel mart provides a strategic platform for Malaysia to boost its visibility, showcase its varied tourism products and reinforce partnerships with Bangladeshi counterparts. Business-to-business (B2B) sessions are also facilitating new collaborations and deeper industry engagement.
Malaysia recorded 42,196,892 international visitor arrivals in 2025, including 281,492 from Bangladesh — an increase of 82.1 per cent compared to the previous year, indicating robust demand and continued market recovery.
In terms of connectivity, there are currently 41 direct weekly flights between Dhaka and Malaysia, offering around 11,340 seats. These routes are operated by Malaysia Airlines, Batik Air, AirAsia, Biman Bangladesh Airlines and US-Bangla Airlines.
