Main Eid congregation held with participation of President, Prime Minister

The main congregation of Eid-ul-Fitr prayers was held at the National Eidgah on Saturday morning.

The jamaat took place at 8:30am, led by Mufti Muhammad Abdul Malek, khatib of the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque. 

President Mohammad Shahabuddin and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman joined the congregation alongside thousands of worshippers.

Members of the judiciary, cabinet ministers and diplomats from various Muslim countries also participated in the main Eid congregation.

The prayers were held in a peaceful and festive atmosphere, with tight security measures in place around the Eidgah.

First Eid congregation held at Baitul Mukarram

Meanwhile, the first congregation of Eid-ul-Fitr prayers was held at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in the morning in a solemn yet festive atmosphere.

The prayers were held at 7:00am, led by the mosque’s Senior Pesh Imam, Maulana Mizanur Rahman. 

Before the prayer, he delivered a sermon (bayan), offering religious guidance and advice to the gathered worshippers.

A total of five Eid congregations are scheduled to be held at the national mosque. Following the first jamaat, the remaining four will take place at 8:00am, 9:00am, 10:00am and 10:45am respectively.

The second congregation will be led by Pesh Imam Mufti Muhibbullahil Baqi Nadvi, while the third will be led by Deputy Director of the Islamic Foundation Bangladesh, Maulana Md Zakir Hossain.

The fourth congregation will be conducted by Maulana Zobayer Ahmed Al Azhari, a religious instructor at the Imam Training Academy, and the fifth and final jamaat will be led by Mufti Maulana Mohammad Abdullah of the Islamic Foundation.

Maulana Shahidul Islam, Assistant Librarian of the Islamic Foundation, has been kept ready as a reserve imam for the Eid congregations.
