English medium schools to go on Ramadan vacation from Monday

The government has asked all the English medium schools and coaching centres across the country to go for Ramadan vacation from Monday in a move to reduce public suffering during the holy Ramadan.

The announcement came following an official order signed by Shirin Akhter, senior assistant secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division of the education ministry, on Sunday.

This decision has been made unanimously in a meeting with representatives from the English medium schools, chaired by Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon.

According to the decision, the class programme of these schools will remain closed from Monday and continue till the holiday of Eid-ul-Fitr announced by the government.

But the compulsory examinations under the foreign curriculum, which were scheduled beforehand, will continue.

The programme of all the coaching centres, both Bangla and English medium, will also remain closed during this time, according to the government order.
