A Dhaka court on Sunday denied bail to journalist Anis Alamgir in a graft case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Sabbir Faiz passed the order, Defence Lawyer Taslima Jahan Popy said.

Earlier on 15 January, the ACC filed a case against Anis Alamgir over allegations of amassing wealth beyond known sources of income and money laundering. The court on 28 January showed Anis Alamgir as arrested in the case.

According to the case documents, Anis allegedly acquired movable and immovable assets worth Tk4.09 crore. His total assets stood at Tk4.25 crore, with family and other expenses shown at Tk15.90 lakh.

Investigators found that Anis earned a total of Tk99.09 lakh from legitimate sources, including previous savings, income from talk shows and consultancy services, the sale of a plot, and savings certificates and bank interest.

Earlier on 5 March, Anis Alamgir secured bail from the High Court in a case filed by Aryan Ahmed, an organiser of the July Revolutionary Students’ Alliance, under the Anti-Terrorism Act with Uttara West Police Station on 14 December 2025.
