A Dhaka court on Monday imposed a travel ban on Md Salim Ullah, chairman of the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC), in connection with ongoing inquiries into alleged irregularities and corruption.
Judge Sabbir Faiz of the Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge’s Court passed the order following a petition filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
According to the petition, an inquiry is underway against Salim Ullah over allegations of acquiring illegal assets through irregularities and corruption.
Information suggests he may flee the country, and imposing a ban on him is necessary for the sake of a fair investigation, the ACC said.
