Tarique visits ailing mother at Evercare Hospital

BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman visited his ailing mother and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka on Monday night.

He reached the hospital around 10:10pm.

Security was tightened in and around the hospital ahead of his visit.

Tarique’s wife Zubaida Rahman and their daughter Zaima Rahman also reached the hospital early Tuesday. 

Later, they left the hospital around 2am.

The BNP leader has visited his ailing mother several times since returning to the country on 25 December.

Earlier, Khaleda’s personal physician Dr AZM Zahid Hossain said on Monday night that the BNP chief is under close medical observation at the hospital’s intensive care unit (ICU), following “deterioration” of her condition.

“We are keeping a vigilant watch as she receives critical care in the ICU. I have nothing more to say than this. Just pray for her,” he told the Daily Sun at 8:47pm.

Zahid, also a member of the BNP Standing Committee, urged the countrymen to pray for the swift recovery of the BNP chairperson, who has been undergoing treatment at the hospital since 23 November with numerous health complications.
