The charge sheet over the murder of Inqilab Moncho
spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi will be submitted to the trial court within the
next 10 days, said Environment Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan on Saturday.
The entire trial process would be completed in the tenure of
the interim government, she added while meeting Inqilab Moncho activists at a road
blockade programme at the Shahbagh intersection. There the demonstrators are demanding
justice for Hadi’s killing.
DMP Commissioner Sheikh Sazzat Ali accompanied Rizwana at
the protest site to assure the demonstrators of government efforts in this
regard.
The charge sheet will be filed by 7 January, he noted. “The
murder was a mysterious incident, and likely involved a lot of people, the names
and addresses of whom will be exposed,” the DMP chief added.
Adviser Rizwana addressed potential concerns over why the
names of behind-the-scenes actors were being kept in the dark. “The government is
working to ensure justice against all the culprits, but is standing
face-to-face with the enemy.”
Caution must be ensured that giving away names or other
information now does not ultimately assist the perpetrators, she warned. She
referred to Hadi’s own message in this regard: any work that strengthens the
enemy must be avoided.
India has also been approached diplomatically to extradite
any fugitive perpetrator, and to this end, New Delhi has assured that if it finds any
suspect it would certainly extend assistance to Dhaka, Rizwana added.
