The Election Commission (EC) has sent a letter to the Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration, requesting the appointment of executive magistrates across the country to strictly enforce the code of conduct during the upcoming 13th parliamentary election.
The letter,
signed by EC Deputy Secretary Mohammad Monir Hossain, was sent on Thursday.
In the
letter, the EC said that preparatory activities for the 13th national elections
are underway. To ensure compliance with the electoral code of conduct under the
Mobile Court Act 2009, the commission has decided that at least two executive
magistrates must be appointed in each upazila or police station area from the
day after the election schedule announcement until two days after polling.
The EC
further requested the Ministry of Public Administration to take necessary steps
to deploy these magistrates for the specified period to ensure strict
enforcement of the code of conduct under the Mobile Court Act, 2009.
