A Dhaka court on Thursday granted a six-day remand for domestic worker Ayesha and a three-day remand for her husband, Rabbi Shikdar, in connection with the murder of a mother and daughter in the capital’s Mohammadpur area.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mahbub Alam passed the order
after police produced the couple before the court, seeking a 10-day remand.
According to police, Laila Afroz, 48, and Nafisa Nawal Binte
Aziz, 15 — the wife and daughter of schoolteacher A Z Azizul Islam — were
murdered on 8 December inside their home on Shahjahan Road, allegedly by a
part-time house help who had identified herself to the family as Ayesha.
The house help allegedly used a knife or another sharp
weapon to inflict fatal injuries on the woman and her daughter, then fled with
a mobile phone, a laptop, gold ornaments and cash.
The victim’s husband, Azizul Islam, filed a murder case that
day with Mohammadpur Police Station over the gruesome killings.
Police, later, arrested Ayesha from Jhalakathi district on Wednesday
(10 Dec).
