Fire breaks out at new Secretariat building in Dhaka

A fire broke out on the eighth floor of the newly constructed Cabinet Building at the Secretariat in Dhaka on Sunday (30 November).

Three units of the Fire Service rushed to the scene and brought the flames under control.

According to the Fire Service, the blaze originated from an electrical malfunction in an external exhaust fan on the ninth floor of the new 20-storey Building No. 1.

Although three units were deployed, the firefighters did not need to undertake extensive work, as the flames were extinguished using fire extinguishers.

Witnesses said that immediately after the fire alarm, all employees working on the affected floors evacuated the building quickly. No casualties or injuries have been reported.
