US must accept peace plan or face ‘failure’

Iran's chief negotiator said Tuesday that Washington must accept Tehran's latest peace plan or face failure, after US President Donald Trump warned the truce in the Middle East war was on the brink of collapse.
The war, which erupted more than two months ago with US-Israeli strikes on Iran, has spread throughout the Middle East and roiled the global economy despite the ceasefire, impacting hundreds of millions worldwide.
Both sides have refused to make concessions and repeatedly threatened to resume fighting, but neither appears willing to return to all-out war.
"There is no alternative but to accept the rights of the Iranian people as laid out in the 14-point proposal. Any other approach will be completely inconclusive; nothing but one failure after another," Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said in a post on X.
"The longer they drag their feet, the more American taxpayers will pay for it."
US President Donald Trump has grown increasingly frustrated with how the Iranians are handling negotiations to end the war, and some Trump aides say that he is now more seriously considering a
resumption of major combat operations than he has in recent weeks.
Trump has grown impatient with the continued closure of the Strait of Hormuz, as well as what he perceives as division in Iranian leadership that is preventing them from making substantial concessions on nuclear talks, sources familiar with the discussions said.
Iranian parliamentary spokesman Ebrahim Rezaei said on Tuesday that the country could enrich uranium up to 90% purity, a level considered weapons-grade, if Iran is attacked again.
"One of Iran's options in the event of another attack could be 90% enrichment. We will review it in the parliament," Rezaei, who is spokesperson for the parliamentary national security and foreign policy commission, posted on X.
The United Arab Emirates has carried out military ‌strikes on Iran, the Wall Street Journal reported on Monday, citing people familiar with the matter.
The strikes, which the UAE has not publicly acknowledged, included an attack on a refinery on ‌Iran's Lavan Island in the Persian Gulf, WSJ said, adding that the attack took place in early April.
