Prominent actor-director Tauquir Ahmed-directed play “Tirthojatri” is set to return to the stage. Produced by theatre troupe Nattokendro, the play will be staged at the Main Auditorium of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in the capital at 7:30pm today.
The play is adapted from popular writer Humayun Kabir’s philosophical fiction “Tirthojatri Tinjon Tarkik”. The production will be brought to the stage through the collective efforts of the theatre center’s artists and crew.
“Tirthojatri” explores contemporary life, human tensions, relationships and the multidimensional conflicts between dreams and reality through the language of theatre. Its narrative reflects on the futility of war while delving into the crises, desires and self-discovery that shape people’s personal and social lives.
Through its characters and storyline, the play portrays conflicts between individuals and society, tensions within relationships and the inevitable questions of existence. It also follows the continuous journey of people seeking to understand themselves amid the duality of reality and dreams.
For years, Nattokendro has played an important role in the development of stage drama in Bangladesh, introducing new theatrical languages and presenting quality productions to audiences. In that tradition, the production team hopes “Tirthojatri” will offer audiences another meaningful and artistic theatre experience.
On the other hand, before “Tirthojatri”, Tauquir Ahmed’s last directorial play on the theatrical stage was "Pratisaran" in Dhaka, a production from several years ago.
