Microbus-truck collision kills two in Bogura

Two people were killed and seven others injured in a head-on collision between a microbus and a corn-laden truck in Shahjahanpur upazila of Bogura early Thursday.

The accident occurred around 4am at Noymile bus stand on the Dhaka-Bogura highway, said Ayub Ali, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sherpur Highway Police Station.

The deceased were identified as microbus driver Ferdous Mondol, 25, of Gopinathpur village in Akkelpur upazila of Joypurhat, and passenger Zubayedul Islam, 30, of Barail village in the same upazila.

The injured were rescued and taken to Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital.

Police said a man returning home from abroad was travelling with seven relatives from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport to Akkelpur when the accident occurred.

Legal proceedings in these connection are underway, the OC said.
