Oscar-winning British-American filmmaker Christopher Nolan’s highly anticipated epic “The Odyssey” is set to be released in Bangladeshi cinemas on 17 July, the same day as its worldwide release.

The film will be screened at all branches of Star Cineplex, offering local audiences the opportunity to experience Nolan’s latest cinematic spectacle alongside moviegoers across the globe.

Confirming the release, Mesbah Uddin Ahmed, AGM of Media and Marketing at Star Cineplex, said the film would arrive in Bangladesh on its global opening day. He also announced that an advance ticket sales campaign will be launched ahead of the release, allowing fans to book their seats early.

Distributed by Universal Pictures, “The Odyssey” has already generated worldwide excitement for its groundbreaking technical achievement. It is the first mainstream feature film to be shot entirely using IMAX 70mm film cameras, marking a significant milestone in cinematic technology.

With a reported production budget of $250 million, the film is regarded as one of the most ambitious projects of Christopher Nolan's illustrious career.

Adapted from Homer’s timeless Greek epic poem, “The Odyssey” follows the legendary King Odysseus on his perilous 10-year journey home to the kingdom of Ithaca after the Trojan War. Along the way, he encounters mythical sea monsters, divine curses, and a series of supernatural trials while struggling to reunite with his wife Penelope and son Telemachus.

The star-studded ensemble cast includes Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong'o, Charlize Theron, Samantha Morton, John Leguizamo, and Benny Safdie.

The film is produced by Emma Thomas, Nolan’s longtime collaborator and wife, who has worked alongside the acclaimed director on many of his award-winning productions.
