Admission tests for public and private medical and dental colleges for the 2026-27 academic session will be held on 18 December.
The admission circular is expected to be published within the next couple of days, while the online application process may begin between 15 and 18 November.
Professor Dr Md Nazmul Hossain, director general of the Directorate General of Medical Education (DGME), confirmed the information on Saturday night.
He said the authorities had initially planned to hold the admission tests on 4 December. However, the examinations could not be arranged on that date due to delays in publishing the results of the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations.
Besides, as the written examination of the 51st Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examination is scheduled for 11 December, the authorities decided to hold the medical and dental admission tests on 18 December.
Regarding the admission circular and application schedule, Prof Nazmul Hossain said the circular would be published within the next couple of days.
Online applications are likely to open between 15 and 18 November, he added.
Meanwhile, the government has decided to hold a special examination on 1 December for students who failed the HSC and equivalent examinations this year.
However, it is yet to be decided whether students who pass the special examination will be eligible to sit for the medical and dental admission tests for the 2026-27 academic session.
