Dengue claims nine more lives in 24 hours

Nine people died of dengue in the last 24 hours till 8am Wednesday, while 1,982 were hospitalised after being infected with the mosquito-borne disease during the same period. 

The latest fatalities have raised the country's dengue death toll to 409 this year, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Of the newly-hospitalised dengue patients, 816 were in Dhaka division, 84 in Mymensingh division, 313 in Chattogram division, 214 in Khulna division, 217 in Rajshahi division, 116 in Rangpur division, 194 in Barishal division and 28 in Sylhet division.

According to the report, a total of 130,219 dengue patients have so far been hospitalised across the country this year.

A total of 102,861 people were infected with dengue, and 413 people died from the mosquito-borne disease last year.
