Three die with measles-like symptoms, 1,217 suspected cases recorded in 24hrs

Bangladesh recorded three more deaths with measles-like symptoms and 1,217 new suspected cases in the past 24 hours, the health authorities said on Tuesday.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 42 cases of measles were confirmed between 8am Monday and 8am Tuesday, with no confirmed deaths during the same period.

The DGHS said that since 15 March, the total number of confirmed measles cases has stood at 23,199, while suspected cases have reached 215,768.

During the same period, 104 people died from confirmed measles, while 1,100 deaths were reported among suspected cases, bringing the total number of fatalities to 1,204.

Besides, a total of 184,168 patients have recovered so far, the DGHS said.
