A three-month nationwide digital awareness campaign has been launched to prevent dengue, with State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dr MA Muhit urging citizens, particularly young people and social media content creators, to actively participate.
In a statement on Monday (21 September), Dr Muhit said dengue could not be controlled through administrative measures or insecticide spraying alone, stressing the need for individual and collective awareness.
He said social media could play an important role in disseminating timely information and reducing dengue risks through active public participation.
The minister urged content creators and influencers to produce and share awareness videos, reels, stories, infographics and posts on dengue prevention.
Dr Muhit said key messages on eliminating stagnant water, destroying Aedes breeding sites, recognising dengue symptoms and seeking prompt medical care could be effectively communicated through creative digital content.
Many content creators have already joined the campaign through the Ministry of Health, he said.
Over the next three months, the campaign will focus on disseminating information through social media on destroying Aedes breeding sites, dengue symptoms and initial care.
The minister also urged citizens to keep their homes, surroundings and workplaces clean and help spread dengue prevention messages online.
