In a city where medical expenses continue to rise, one healthcare center in Bashundhara Residential area has quietly built a reputation for offering quality services at affordable cost.
Afroza Begum Diagnostic and Consultation Center, a non-profit initiative of the Bashundhara Foundation, has become a trusted name for hundreds of patients who seek treatment without breaking their pockets.
“Our goal is simple, we want to ensure the best possible treatment at the lowest possible cost,” said Nargis Akhter Choity, manager of Afroza Begum Diagnostic and Consultation Center.
According to her, the healthcare facility charges 25% to 40% less than other private hospitals in the capital. Each day, it serves between 300 and 350 patients with offerings including internal medicine, physical medicine, gynecology, child care, diabetes, hormone care, and orthopedics.
The dialysis unit is equipped with 10 advanced machines imported from Japan and the United States. It offers sessions priced from Tk2,500 to Tk2,800, she said, adding that the center’s medical team consists of professors, assistant professors and consultants from top government hospitals, ensuring both expertise and reliability.
Besides, the facility also has a special fund for underprivileged patients. As a result, no one is denied treatment due to financial constraints. Medicines are often sold at discounted rates. In special cases, it is provided for free, she further said.

Nazmul Hossain, a regular patient, said, “They treat us with kindness and respect.”
Looking ahead, the management plans to upgrade the center into a full-fledged hospital to expand its services and reach more people in need. Preparations are already underway to increase both manpower and modern equipment to meet rising demand.
Though it doesn’t rely on flashy marketing, the center’s reputation continues to grow, built on word of mouth, compassion and integrity.
Afroza Begum Diagnostic and Consultation Center is located at Block D, Road 2/A, House 50, Bashundhara Residential Area, Dhaka-1229.
