HONOR has unveiled its Robot Phone, a smartphone featuring a fully motorised gimbal integrated into its camera system, at a programme in Guangzhou, China, recently.
Developed in collaboration with German cinema camera company ARRI, the device features a 200MP Agile Gimbal Main Camera, a 200MP Periscope Telephoto Camera with 2.7x optical zoom and a 50MP Ultra-Wide Camera.
Its three-axis mechanical gimbal moves the camera module to reduce shake and improve stability during handheld and moving shots. Tilt Lock, First Person View (FPV) and AI SpinShot modes are also available for dynamic video capture.
The collaboration with ARRI brings its colour science and imaging expertise to the device, helping balance highlights and shadows while retaining natural skin tones and image detail.
“Hardware sets the foundation for image quality, while algorithms deliver the leap. But technology is only the foundation, what ultimately defines great imaging is aesthetics,” said HONOR CEO James Li.
Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, the Robot Phone packs a 7,060mAh Silicon-carbon battery with support for 120W wired and 50W wireless charging.
The device is priced at RMB 9,999 (around US$1,500) for the 12GB+512GB variant and RMB 12,999 (around $1,930) for the 16GB+1TB version.
With its motorised camera system and flagship hardware, the Robot Phone is positioned as a smartphone designed to offer enhanced capabilities for mobile photography and video creation.
