A childhood burdened by survival

A mother smiles as she holds her young child close, while the child’s father hauls sand under the scorching sun to earn a living. Amid the family’s daily struggle to make ends meet, the child, whose days should be filled with play and learning, is growing up against a backdrop of hardship. Like every child, the little one deserves education, healthcare, safety and the chance to dream of a brighter future. The photograph was taken recently in the Gabtoli–Aminbazar area.
