Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed said on Sunday that the government would not consider the political affiliations of anyone when taking action against those found to be involved in vandalism and looting at the Radda Healthcare and Family Planning Centre in Mirpur-1, Dhaka.
The minister issued the warning as an investigation report submitted to the DMP commissioner’s office on Sunday found evidence of negligence by police personnel who were on duty during the incident.
The report said police failed to take effective measures to control the situation even though looting continued in the presence of law enforcement officers.
Speaking to reporters at the secretariat, the home minister said negligence of duty had been found on the part of the officer-in-charge of Shah Ali police station in connection with the attack.
The findings came three days after miscreants attacked the Radda MCH-FP Centre early Friday, allegedly taking away equipment and medicines and causing damage estimated at around Tk1.09 crore.
Police have so far arrested 10 people in connection with the incident after the health centre’s executive director, Nasrin Akhter, filed a case with Shah Ali police station naming Md Hanif Mia, 50, as the primary accused, along with 200-250 unidentified individuals.
A Dhaka court on Sunday sent six more suspects to jail, raising the number to 10 in two days following the attack, vandalism and looting at the Radda healthcare centre in Mirpur-1, Dhaka.

The jailed persons are Md Shahadat Hossain, 33, Kazi Mokbul Hossain, 58, Md Shah Alam, 53, Md Atikur Rahman, 33, Md Kamrul Islam, 52, and Md Shakil, 20.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Nazmin Akter passed the order after Sub-Inspector Md Atowar Rahman of Shah Ali Police Station produced them before the court and sought their detention.
The court also fixed the hearing for today after defence lawyer Md Emran Hossain filed bail petitions.
The incident drew widespread public outcry, creating pressure on the government to ensure accountability and justice.
The Ministry of Home Affairs has already issued a directive to the authorities concerned to take tougher action against the culprits as well as the responsible law enforcers, said sources within the ministry.
On Saturday, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) withdrew Shah Ali OC Jahangir Alam.
The OC was attached to DMP headquarters under an order signed by DMP Deputy Commissioner (Headquarters and Administration) Md Shahriar Ali, which was issued on Saturday and disclosed on Sunday.
State Minister for Youth and Sports Aminul Haque visited the site on Sunday.
“It is completely unacceptable for a beneficial institution to be razed to the ground by bulldozers. We do not accept such actions in any way,” he said.
He also alleged that certain political quarters were attempting to spread various forms of misinformation about the incident.
“We are examining the facts to determine who is actually behind this incident and who orchestrated this land-grabbing attempt and for what purpose. No one against whom evidence is found will be spared,” he said.
Aminul went on to say, “It is the Housing Authority’s land. I have talked to the minister concerned about the land. From tomorrow (Monday), we will start renovating the centre. I myself will personally initiate renovation as soon as possible with full cooperation.”
Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) also issued a statement on Sunday, demanding exemplary punishment for those responsible and urging the ruling party to launch a nationwide drive to reform its ranks.
Citing media reports, TIB said the Radda MCH-FP Centre was looted, vandalised and encroached upon at midnight in the presence of police, allegedly with the backing of a reserved-seat MP.
The Human Rights Support Society (HRSS) also expressed concern and condemned the reported attack, looting and destruction of the Radda health centre in Mirpur-1.
Dhaka North City Corporation Administrator Shafiqul Islam Khan Milton, in a statement, expressed deep concern over the incident and strongly condemned the attack.
Leaders of different opposition political parties, including NCP leader Asif Mahmud, also visited the spot on Sunday, protested the incident and demanded action against the real culprits.
