BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman on Friday expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the overwhelming support and affection shown by the people in the recently concluded national election.
“I am grateful for the love you have shown me. Please pray for me,” Tarique said while speaking to well-wishers on his way to the mosque at the Bangladesh Navy Headquarters to offer Jummah prayers.
Under the leadership of the soft-spoken Tarique, the BNP secured a landslide victory, positioning him as the country’s next leader.
He is set to become Bangladesh’s next prime minister, in line with his party’s decision, following one of the nation’s most pivotal elections held on Thursday in a free, fair and transparent manner.
Tarique personally contested two constituencies – Dhaka-17 and Bogura-6 – and won both with distinction.
While travelling to the mosque, Tarique paused his car outside his Gulshan residence after noticing a crowd of eager supporters gathered to congratulate him.
Courteously addressing the crowd, he inquired about many of their names, and they expressed their commitment to stand by him in his mission to rebuild the country.
Emerging as a statesman during the election campaign, Tarique thanked his supporters and called upon them to continue keeping him in their prayers.
