Arrest warrant issued against Pori Moni

A Dhaka court on Wednesday issued arrest warrants for actress Shamsunnahar Smriti, popularly known as Pori Moni, and her costume designer Junaed Bogdadi Jimmy in an attempted murder case filed by businessman Nasir Uddin Mahmud.

Rahman passed the order, according to court sources.
They said Wednesday was the scheduled date
for the case, and the complainant's side sought cancellation of the accused
persons' bail. Pori Moni's lawyer sought more time, saying she could not appear
in court due to illness.
The court cancelled her bail and issued an arrest warrant. It also fixed 23 December for recording witness testimony.
The case was filed on 6 July 2021 over an
alleged assault at Savar's Boat Club on 9 June that year.
Nasir Uddin accused Pori Moni and her
associates of assaulting him, threatening to kill him and vandalising the club
following an altercation.
In 2024, the Police Bureau of Investigation
(PBI) submitted a charge sheet against Pori Moni and Jimmy. The investigation
found no evidence against another accused, Fatema Tuz Jannat Boni.
