Speculation has surfaced over whether Kolkata’s actress Madhumita Sarker is withdrawing from her upcoming Bangladeshi film “Gulshaner Chameli”. However, the film’s director, Mohammad Iqbal, has dismissed the reports as baseless, confirming that the project will proceed as planned with the actress.

Madhumita, who is set to make her debut in Bangladeshi cinema, attended the film’s muhurat ceremony in Dhaka last August. At the event, she expressed her excitement about joining the Dhallywood film industry for the first time.

Talking about the rumours, director Mohammad Iqbal said preparations were underway according to schedule. He revealed the Madhumita was scheduled to arrive in Bangladesh on 28 November. The team would then hold several days of rehearsals before beginning filming on  1 December, with Madhumita in front of the camera.

The director also suggested that the speculation had generated publicity for the film. “I know who is spreading these stories, but I do not want to comment on anything right now. The discussions have actually helped bring attention to the film,” he said.

Madhumita has also denied reports of her departure, telling a media outlet that she believes a group is deliberately spreading misinformation.

A popular face in West Bengal television, Madhumita Sarker gained widespread popularity for playing “Pakhi” in the serial “Bojhena She Bojhena”.

The actress previously appeared in the Bangladeshi television drama “Meghbalika” in 2016, opposite Mosharraf Karim. However, she will make her debut in Bangladeshi film with “Gulshaner Chameli”.
