Renowned Bangladeshi singer Anusheh Anadil, celebrated for her distinctive voice and soulful renditions of folk songs, has finally opened up about her prolonged absence from major musical performances, dismissing rumours surrounding her withdrawal from the spotlight.
Known for captivating audiences across both Bengals with popular songs such as “Sohoj Manush” and “Tomar Ghore Bosot Kore,” Anusheh has remained largely absent from large concerts for several years, prompting speculation about her personal life and musical career.
Recently, the singer addressed these rumours in a video shared on social media, firmly denying claims that use of drugs or a loss of singing ability had forced her to abandon music.
“Please do not judge me from afar. Do not assume that I quit music because of drugs or that I am no longer capable of singing. I can still sing; in fact, I just finished singing for a group of women,” she said.
Anusheh explained that her decision to avoid large concerts was entirely personal, driven by health concerns and her desire to lead a simpler, more peaceful life.
She also clarified that she no longer wishes to pursue music commercially, although singing remains an important part of her life.
Earlier in July, Anusheh revealed that she had been struggling with hearing problems for a considerable period. According to the singer, her hearing has gradually deteriorated, while persistent internal noises and exposure to loud sounds cause significant physical discomfort.
She also disclosed that she had tried using a hearing aid following medical advice, but discontinued it after experiencing increased auditory discomfort.
These health challenges have prompted Anusheh to avoid crowded venues, noisy surroundings and large-scale musical events. Instead, she now prefers quiet environments where she can maintain a comfortable lifestyle.
